Turn Your Dreams Into Goals!
Each and every one of us has or has had some big dream at some point in life. Some dream of breaking a world record, others dream of creating a great fortune or finding their soul mate and living happily ever after…
Sadly, many people leave their dreams unfulfilled and instead of having a life of adventure and fulfillment, get caught up in the mundane, and living a life of quite desperation.
In other words, instead of turning a dream into an actual goal that is meant to be achieved, it remains “nothing but a dream”… but why?
Many people give up on their dreams without even trying. Others simply lower the bar. They forget their real dreams, and set smaller goals that are much easier to accomplish. The problem is that these goals don’t inspire and motivate them, and even when they attain them – they don’t give them the sense of fulfillment that they’re really after.
This happens because most people either don’t believe in their abilities, or- they’re afraid. Fear is the most common reason for not taking action – fear of failure, fear of success, fear of what others will say or think about you.
It all comes down to lack of confidence, lack of self belief, low self esteem, whatever you want to call it.
Another problem is when people start taking action, but give up too soon. They run into stumbling blocks, setbacks and failure, and they quit.
Of course, if everyone did that, nothing great would have ever been achieved, now would it? There would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.
Strong desire and determination have turned many ‘impossible’ dreams into reality.
Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. In other words – great achievements take hard work and discipline.
So your first step is to dream and dream big! Ignore any self imposed limitations, and decide to act in spite of fear. Get excited!
Next, define the first roadblocks or short term goals that need to be attained in order to eventually fulfill your dream, then decide on the first action to take, and go for it.
Every short term goal you accomplish and every obstacle you overcome will help raise your motivation and your belief in your ability to fulfill your dream. You will build momentum, and when that happens, all you’ll have to do is ride it!
