The Importance of Exercise in a Healthy Lifestyle
Statistics show that 50% of adults in the United States are significantly overweight. Of those about 1/3rd are trying to lose weight, some more successfully than others; however, this is not the only country in the world currently fighting the ‘battle of the bulge.’
To achieve the optimum weight and a healthy standard of fitness, both diet and exercise must be included as basic components of any lifestyle.
One of the biggest reasons that people are overweight is that they are inactive. People sit all day at computers, or sit in other types of jobs. Many people do not exercise regularly at home. But, if a person exercises they find that more calories are burned, they feel better, and they suffer fewer stress injuries to muscles and tendons.
This does not necessarily mean that one need buy expensive exercise equipment and become a workout addict, but including a variety of daily exercises in one’s life will improve health as well as fitness.
Women have a special need to exercise. Even when pregnant, women need to exercise to strengthen the muscles they will be using when they have their baby. By exercising and toning muscles the task of delivery a baby will be much easier.
Many women who do pilates during pregnancy find that using the support of a prenatal cradle greatly assists in building muscles that one will need during delivery. To regain one’s shape following delivery, a belly bandit is a great tool during exercise. This, coupled with a healthy diet will ensure that one returns to their healthy pre-baby form quickly.
Burning calories through exercise is the easiest method available for people wishing to lose weight. When one stops eating, or eats improperly to lose weight they are putting an enormous amount of stress on their body. It has been shown that this type of weight loss does not last. People often become ill more easily as their immune system is affected.
Leading an active and healthy lifestyle will provide a person with both the weight loss they want and the healthy body they need.
