Actually, coffee is not what I'd recommend. It has it's own effect, but if you ask me, it's not enough. As I said, a good breakfast and some exercise, at least stretching have much greater and better effect than coffee.

I 've got up early for 22 years, but now having taken voluntary retirement from school, i like to wind up in bed till late ,say 8am. But ,i agree , acup of coffee really shakes you awake and gets you going....

True, that's what coffee does. It just gives you a quick (and short) boost.

Same here! A cup of coffee, or even just milk, always gets me going in the morning. The only problem I have with coffee is that even though it helps me wake up, it also "crashes" me pretty soon after that...so i've resorted to something else instead.

Personally it is very hard to get me out of bed in the morning...i'm always groggy, and cranky the first 5 minutes after waking up. But after i've had my coffee and have been walking around for a few minutes I always feel much better. Morning stretches sounds like a really good idea, I used to do that as a kid...when did I stop?
