Whether you’re always tired, sleep too much or having any kind of sleep problem, you may have to admit having some kind of mental ‘energy drainers’…
Stress, depression, lack of motivation and plain boredom are some of the more common emotional/ psychological issues that might be keeping you in bed for too long, or draining you of energy. (In most cases, those are the root causes of tiredness and sleep problems, although there are, of course, possible physical causes for tiredness.
In the best case, you used to have such issues a long time ago, but still carry some bad habits that were established back then (That’s how habits tend to be).
Your negative habits, thoughts and emotions – damage your energy level directly, or indirectly – by affecting your sleep…
Take a close look at yourself…
Are you sleep walking through life?
Is it possible that you oversleep, instead of facing problems and responsibilities? Could it be that you’re always tired because you’re bored with life? Could you be using your bed as your “comfort zone”?
As you know, when you wake up you’re not in total control of your thoughts and your actions. At this stage your subconscious is more dominant.
Going back to bed after you woke up by the alarm clock (or ignoring it. or hitting the snooze…) might give you a sense of power, an illusion of freedom…:-)
Are you repressing something? Maybe a dream or a goal that seems impossible to reach?
Is stress wearing you out?
Stress causes tiredness in many different ways.
For example: Many people have trouble getting a restful night sleep because of stress and worries…
You may be lying in bed a long time until you fall asleep, and then sleep lightly. You get into ‘deep sleep’ only close to the time you’re supposed to wake up, and then force yourself out of bed – TIRED.
Do you drain yourself out with your bad habits?
I’m talking about poor nutrition, lack of exercise, staying up late, heavy smoking, drinking too much coffee or alcohol and so on…
You don’t need to be a psychologist to understand that some of these habits are caused by emotional issues, like stress and depression.
(For example: The habits of smoking and drinking are very often caused by stress.)
You may be ‘trying’ to get rid of them, but fail time and time again, because you lack the self discipline (which comes from low motivation).
